Join Leckie Studio for the public unveiling of ADDAPT, a new prefabricated housing prototype exploring the future of adaptable, resilient, and high-performance housing. As part of the Vancouver Design Festival, this free open house invites visitors to experience ADDAPT firsthand and explore a new model for homes designed to evolve alongside changing households, communities, and urban needs.
Developed by Michael Leckie and the team at Leckie Studio, ADDAPT builds on years of innovation in prefabrication, including the Backcountry Hut Company, a modular architectural system that demonstrated how thoughtful design and efficient manufacturing could work together to create high-quality buildings. ADDAPT expands this approach into urban housing, combining precision prefabrication, engineered timber construction, and adaptable planning to create homes that can grow, transform, and support multiple generations over time.
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the prototype, learn about the design process, and discover how architecture can create more flexible, sustainable, and future-ready housing solutions.
Admission is free with reserved ticketing. Open to the public from 10 AM to 6 PM on September 20 as part of the Vancouver Design Festival.
