Fast + Epp

Join Tobias Fast, Partner at Fast + Epp Structural Engineers, for a talk exploring how ideas move from early experimentation to application in built projects. Drawing on work from the Fast + Epp Concept Lab, and projects including Williams College Museum of Art, PNE Amphitheatre, BCIT Student Housing, Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre, and several public art installations, Tobias will share how research and testing shape structural innovation. The session highlights how building code can be rethought as a starting point, how open-source thinking can advance the industry, and how product and connection system innovations emerge from real construction challenges and opportunities.

The talk runs approximately 45 minutes and is followed by an open discussion, where guests are invited to ask questions, continue conversations with Tobias, and explore the Concept Lab. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see examples of ongoing testing and prototyping work firsthand.
