Behind a simple cedar fence in Vancouver’s Point Grey neighbourhood, lies a secret garden, a quiet oasis where Canada’s famed architect, the late Arthur Erickson, made his home for over fifty years. Residing in a minimal house set on the lane, he looked out to a contemplative garden landscaped with reflective water, rhododendrons, ferns, bamboo and grasses among mighty Douglas fir and dogwood trees. Arthur described its essence as “a clearing in the forest.”
Together Arthur Erickson’s house and garden were his inspiration, his haven and one of his most delicate design accomplishments; a work of art, unique, and intact. The Arthur Erickson Foundation is sole owner of the property, and is responsible for its management, maintenance, and related operations. We are working hard to raise funds to support the restoration of the house and garden and to provide an endowment for its ongoing care. Your tour booking will help us restore this important and historic place.
