Curated by Nolan Talbot Kelly and Annaka Hoelk, Obj:Obj presents a cross-section of Vancouver’s contemporary furniture, lighting and objects. The show gathers independent studios working across varied materials and design practices, using the curatorial format of pairing objects to explore a core theme.

Last year, we explored the concept of “design inspiration” by pairing each final design with an object that inspired it, whether in form, colour, function or concept. For our 2nd year, we are keeping the format and the title, but selecting a new theme to explore.

We conceived of Obj:Obj as a way to showcase independent talent and ultimately grow Vancouver’s design scene. At it’s most effective, a design show is also a gesture of community-building, bringing varied practices into proximity so visitors (the public and industry professionals alike) can discover unexpected affinities and foster connections.
