Reuse, Don’t Build is an evening panel event exploring how adaptive reuse and circular design can make reuse, not replacement the default. As places face increasing pressure to grow sustainably, existing buildings present an opportunity to reduce waste, lower carbon emissions, and preserve cultural heritage.

Drawing inspiration from Paris's PLU Bioclimatique, a policy framework that prioritizes retention and limits demolition, this panel discussion will examine how adaptive reuse and circularity can shape more resilient communities. Join us as we explore the question: Can Vancouver do the same?

Panelists:
Joseph Dahmen - Associate Professor, UBC School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture
Katie Theall - Architectural Designer, DIALOG
Marcos Alejandro Badra - Program Manager, Circular Economy, City of Richmond
Shaun St-Amour - Manager of Revive, ETRO Construction

Moderators:
Molly Steeves – Senior Urban Planner, Associate, DIALOG
Mona Lemoine – Senior Sustainability Consultant, Associate, DIALOG

Registration will open soon. For more information, please contact the event organizer DIALOG on this event page.
