Join TWIG and UBC CAWP for a tour exploring mass timber projects across Vancouver, from design through construction and occupancy. Participants will visit completed buildings and active construction sites while hearing from architects, engineers, builders, and building users connected to each project.

Each stop highlights a different stage of a building’s lifecycle, with perspectives on design intent, engineering, construction, material selection, and the experience of occupying mass timber spaces. The tour also considers how mass timber connects to the future of BC’s forestry sector, and how design can support a shift toward higher-value wood products, advanced manufacturing, and sustainable building systems.

Confirmed tour locations include Alliance Française, on5, and Little Flower Academy, with one additional project to be announced. The tour includes a lunch break at the Oakridge Timeout Market. Our first stop will be at on5, where our hosts from SLA Architect and Timber Engineering will introduce the foundations of mass timber design.

Ticket price includes transportation and $20 toward lunch. Participants must bring PPE: hard hat, high-visibility vest, and steel-toed boots. The final agenda will be announced in early September.
