Dear Gus Snack Bar

A room is a collection of decisions.

Every object, placement, material, omission, and edit reflects a choice. The same is true of a building, a brand, a business, a creative practice, or a life.

Design is decision-making made visible.

Through the lens of design, What You Leave Out explores why the principles that create enduring design are the same principles that create decisions that hold: attention, editing, restraint, structural integrity, and knowing what belongs.

Drawing on a career spanning the international art world, curation, creative direction, and strategic advisory work, the talk examines the often invisible process that precedes everything we build.

It argues that clarity rarely comes from adding more. It emerges through thoughtful subtraction. Through editing. Through deciding what stays and what goes.

A well-resolved design object isn't simple because it's missing something. It's simple because nothing else belongs.

What You Leave Out invites designers, creatives, founders, and people building things to reconsider decision-making as a design practice and to explore how the quality of what we build is inseparable from the quality of the decisions that shape it.
