Food Brings Us Together

Food Brings Us Together

Becki Chan

Becki Chan

A series of dinners, tastings, workshops, and gatherings exploring how food, space, and design influence the way we gather.

Food culture is about more than what we eat. It is shaped by the objects, atmosphere, details, and conversations that surround a meal. Design brings these elements together, transforming food into a social and sensory experience.

During Design Vancouver Festival, chefs, architects, and designers will explore this connection through experimental dinners, dessert-making, tastings, restaurant stories, and aperitivo gatherings.

Architecture of Dessert
Pastry chef Kenta Takahashi shares his creative process before guiding participants through form, function, colour, and composition in their own desserts.

Beyond the Menu: The Making of Touski
Meet the owner, chef, and designers behind Touski over a long-table dinner exploring the many creative decisions involved in bringing a restaurant to life.

Here for Now
A hidden Vancouver space becomes the setting for an immersive experience combining architecture, installation, food, and conversation.

…in time
At Ellipsis inside the Waterfall Building, SML Studio Architecture invites guests to experience time through light, sound, taste, scent, and ritual.

After Hours by Cesar Vancouver
Inspired by Italian aperitivo, Cesar’s showroom becomes a listening bar for music, food, hospitality, and conversation, featuring VinVan and Mimi’s Focaccia.

Bocci Aperitivo
Gather inside Bocci’s design studio, research lab, and factory for refreshments, glass-blowing demonstrations, and an evening of design and exchange.

Thermador x AFBC
Classic dishes are reimagined as contemporary canapés alongside photography, cookbooks, and archival material exploring Vancouver’s architectural and culinary history.

Each experience offers a different way to understand the relationship between food and design.

Food brings people into a space. Design shapes how that space feels. Conversation gives the experience meaning. Food connects us.
