Design Vancouver Festival celebrates the power of design by bringing communities together, inspiring public dialogue, and highlighting both leading and emerging voices. We aim to spark collaboration and build opportunities that fuel creative and professional growth.
From September 19–29, 2024, the city came alive with creativity, collaboration, and conversation. Centered around the theme of ‘Connection’, Design Vancouver Festival 2024 brought people together to explore how design can inspire, engage, and transform.
Across 11 days, we welcomed 8,600+ attendees to 35 curated events and 33 open studios, spanning exhibitions, installations, talks, tours, and workshops. Our signature Open Night drew 680 guests, launching the festival with an energetic evening of storytelling and shared inspiration.
With 69,000+ website views and a growing community of 5,000+ subscribers, DVF continues to expand its reach and amplify the voices shaping Vancouver’s design culture. The excitement and engagement across all events underscored the incredible strength, creativity, and support of our city’s design community.
Opening Night
We kicked off the festival in PechaKucha-style with 680 guests, filling the room with energy, creativity, and connection. This fast-paced, 120-minute evening of storytelling gave presenters a vibrant platform and left the audience inspired and buzzing.
Open Studios
On September 21 & 22, 33 design studios across the city opened their doors to the public, offering a rare, behind-the-scenes look into the spaces and minds behind some of Vancouver’s most compelling creative work.
Independent Events
The city pulsed with design energy through 35 independently curated events—from bold exhibitions and lively parties to deep-dive talks and interactive workshops—all produced by local designers and studios.
Design Vancouver Forum
A series of three panel discussions, the Forum created space for multidisciplinary creatives to explore how design can address pressing environmental, social and cultural challenges. These conversations invited the public into meaningful dialogue and connection.
